An opening into the death of a UEA ice hockey player heard he had multiple drugs in his system at the time he drowned in the River Wensum.

Oliver Amies was born on July 14, 1993 and lived in White Swan Walk, Old Laundry Court, died on August 20 this year.

A statement from doctor Igali read out at Norfolk Coroner's Court said that the 31-year-old died due to: "Drowning along with combined cocaine and ketamine toxicity."

Following Mr Amies' death a JustGiving page was set up to help raise money for the UEA's ice hockey team, the Avalanche, which he played for.

It said: "Ollie was not only a key player but a cherished friend and teammate.

"His passion for the sport, unwavering dedication to the club and support for those around him made him an integral part of the Avalanche family.

"This fund is about celebrating Ollie's life and the joy he found in every game he played."

Currently there has been £3,568 raised for the club.

Senior coroner, Jacqueline Lake, adjourned the full inquest until March 17 next year.
