A Mercedes drug driver has been spared jail despite breaching the terms of a previous suspended sentence.

Jordan Spauls failed a roadside drugs wipe after being stopped by police near Mousehold in Norwich on June 21.

Norwich Magistrates’ Court heard a blood sample showed the 24-year-old, who has 27 previous offences including a drug driving conviction from 2020, was three times over the specified limit for cannabis.

This meant he was also in breach of a suspended sentence imposed in June 2023 for having a knife at Norwich station, said the prosecution.

Spauls, of Parkland Road in Sprowston, pleaded guilty to drug driving.

Magistrates decided against activating the suspended 16 week jail term, instead imposing fines and costs of £507.

“This is your last chance,” they told him.

He was banned from driving for three years.

Rachel Buck, mitigating, pointed out Spauls cared for his elderly grandmother and had a full-time job at KFC as well as a sideline making YouTube content about cars.

“It’s finally sinking in that only he can make changes to his life," she added.
