A cat "dragged himself home" after he was shot after going missing for around 12 hours.

Maya Starr, who lives in Great Snoring, near Fakenham, was getting worried when she had not seen her cat Jagger fearing he had gone missing on October 6.

She was relieved when he returned home before noticing that he had suffered a wound later discovered to be a bullet hole left by a pointed .22 air rifle pellet.

The .22 air rifle round that was found inside Jagger (Image: Maya Starr) "I think he was shot at a distance because there was no exit wound, just an entry point near his chest and shoulder.

"I am so glad Jagger is fine, he had been missing for around 12 hours prior but managed to drag himself home.

"We heard about another case of a cat being shot at in the King's Lynn area called Mickey, and when we took him to the vet she told us she had seen a lot of cases similar to this too." 

After making sure Jagger was okay, she notified the police about what happened, with officers coming down to speak about the incident. 

"The police have been really really good, we thought they would just give us something like a crime number but two officers came to the house to get more information.

"With a 12-hour window and no witnesses at the moment it is a really hard thing for the police to investigate but we appreciate the support."
