Pupils and staff were put on high alert following an incident involving a knife at a city high school.
A pupil attending Thorpe St Andrew High School and Sixth Form claims another - believed to be aged 13 or 14 - brought the bladed item into the building earlier this week.
That pupil's parent has since slammed the school for not notifying them about the incident.
However, the school says "swift action" was taken to resolve the incident.
The parent, who did not wish to be named, said: "My daughter found out on Wednesday after one of her classmates told her.
"She told me a pupil took a knife into the school earlier this week and was threatening people with it.
"She was shocked when she found out and it's all anyone is talking about there.
"It's caused her a lot of distress, so much so I'm looking to see if I can enrol her somewhere else.”
The school, which is run by Broad Horizons Education Trust, confirmed that an incident had occurred at the school this term.
A spokesman for the trust said: "This [incident] was addressed immediately in line with our safeguarding policies, with the school taking swift action and notifying the relevant authorities.
"We want to assure our school community that we prioritise safety and follow robust protocols to handle such situations appropriately.
"We appreciate the vigilance of our pupils and staff in reporting concerns and we continue to work closely with authorities to maintain a safe school environment for all."

But the parent said they had not been reassured and was looking to relocate her daughter to another school.
They added: “There are so many incidents happening at the school now, but they don't seem to take it seriously.
"I didn't receive any report on what happened - I had to find out from my daughter.
"I believe the pupil who brought the knife in was only excluded for a few days, so the fact they'll be back is really worrying."
