Police body-worn camera footage captured the moment a murderer approached a police officer in the street to say he had killed his girlfriend.

Adam Barnard, 41, went up to the officer outside Great Yarmouth police station to make the confession.

He was then arrested and police went to the flat in Princes Road, in the town, where he had strangled girlfriend Tara Kershaw, 33, to death.

The footage has been released by police after Barnard was found guilty of her murder following a five-week trial.

It was taken on the morning of January 20 - more than 24 hours after the murder - when Barnard went to the police station to confess.

When he arrived the station was closed so he waited outside on Howard Street.

When it opened, he spoke to an officer on the front desk and said: "I needed to speak to you guys," adding: "I know I'm in a whole lot of trouble."

He then went outside for a cigarette. The front desk officer then sent a colleague out, who recorded an emotional Barnard saying: "I think I killed my partner".

The officer then called for other units to go to her home, saying: "I've got a male who is very upset who has just said he may have killed his partner."

Barnard said: "She is dead.

He went onto say: "What the f**k is going on."

Officers told colleagues over the radio that they had "got him in cuffs."

Barnard was told by police he was being arrested "on suspicion of suspected murder" and he would be remanded in custody.

His murder trial heard how Miss Kershaw had made a string of allegations about being attacked by her boyfriend, who repeatedly told her he would kill her.

On the most recent occasion, he was arrested on January 18 after she said he had hit her on the lip.

Police released him shortly before 11pm and he went back to the guest house where they both lived and killed her hours later.

Shocking footage released by police also shows Barnard, apparently at the guest house, speaking to officers on an earlier occasion laughing as he demonstrated strangling someone.
