From timings to the entertainment programme, here is all you need to know ahead of the Norwich Christmas lights switch-on.
What is the date of the Norwich Christmas lights switch-on in 2024?
The switch-on event will take place on Thursday, November 14 2024 and many city centre streets will be illuminated.
Provided by Norwich BID, with support from Norwich City Council, the lighting scheme is powered by 100pc renewable energy.

Where will the event take place and who is performing?
Head to the stage in front of City Hall for an evening of entertainment from 5.30pm to 7.05pm, with the light switch-on at 7pm.
Entertainment, hosted by Norwich City Council, will include YouTube sensation Leon Mallett (East Anglian Boy), singer Juliet and Triple Threat Theatre.
There will also be a Christmas Disco from The Catton Grove Allstars and a performance from Framtastics Gymnastics.
Father Christmas will make an appearance and the Revd Canon Edward Carter from St Peter Mancroft Church will deliver a festive blessing.
Snow machines will also be used at the event.
Who is the special guest turning on the Christmas lights?
Norfolk comedy star Owen Evans from double act The Nimmo Twins will turn on the lights at 7pm.
He is also starring as the dame in the Aladdin panto at Norwich Theatre Royal this Christmas.
What else is happening in the city centre?
Following the switch-on, there will be more entertainment in Gentleman’s Walk with a brass band playing seasonal favourites.
There will be a funfair from 4.30pm until late and many Norwich Market stalls will stay open until 8pm.
Other local businesses will also be open late, including The Cuppie Hut in St Giles Street offering hot pudding specials for £5 until 7.30pm.

Will there be any road closures?
Yes, there will be temporary road closures, as follows:
8am-11pm: St Peters Street, Millenium Plain and Bethel Street from its junction with The Forum Car Park entrance to its junction with St Peters Street.
12noon-11pm: Brigg Street and Gentleman’s Walk.
4pm-11pm: St Giles Street, Gaol Hill, Guildhall Hill, Exchange Street, Pottergate from its junction with Upper Goat Lane to its junction with Exchange Street, London Street, Little London Street, Castle Street, Dove Street and St John Maddermarket. The one-way system in Upper Goat Lane will be suspended.
