A toy giant has returned to the streets of Norwich - just in time for Christmas shopping.

The WHSmith on Gentleman's Walk in the city centre has opened a Toys R Us concession upstairs.

To celebrate, customers can currently save £5 when they spend £40 or more on all toys and games.

The store first flung open its doors to excited children on Saturday, with the first 50 kids receiving a free goodie bag worth more than £15.

The WHSmith branch will undergo some work to its exterior after Norwich City Council approved plans last month to update the signs to include the Toys R Us branding.

Toys R Us disappeared from the UK high street after February 2018 when the company went bust.

Norwich wasn't initially one of the cities set for the return of the toy brand, but Ian Sanders, Group Commercial Development Director at the high street stalwart, revealed the plans for the site last month.

He said: "WHSmith is known for being the hub of the high street by providing customers with a range of great products and services.
