The roads where a thousand street lights could be switched off to save a cash-strapped council £200,000 have been revealed.
Norfolk County Council has released the list of roads where it is proposing turning out the lights next year - as consultation gets under way on the authority's budget proposals.
The Conservative-controlled council previously revealed it proposed to switch off another 2pc of its 53,000 lights, on top of around a thousand it agreed to turn off this year.
But it has now revealed where the lights could go off - with132 streets across the county potentially going dark.
The council says the street lights are on what it describes as industrial roads.
They are in urban areas such as Norwich, Great Yarmouth, King's Lynn, Fakenham, Dereham, Wymondham, Attleborough and Thetford, but also smaller settlements such as Loddon, Little Cressingham, Tharston and Hingham.
Critics have raised concerns that switching off street lights could lead to people feeling unsafe.
The council says it will consult with Norfolk police to ensure all areas are suitable for switch-off, and if they fail the assessment, alternative streets will need to be found.
The saving has been mooted as part of the Conservative-controlled council's proposals to help plug a £45m gap in its budget for next year.
The street light switch off is one of the proposals, along with cutting spending on adult social care and children's services, put forward to save £33m of the £45m target.
The public is being invited to take part in consultation over the street lights, along with a potential to increase council tax by 3pc, 5pc or more than 5pc.
This would see an average Band D property’s council tax go up by £50, up to £84 or more than £84 a year.
People are also invited to have their say on a proposal to cut spending on housing related support by £2m.
Andrew Jamieson, Norfolk County Council cabinet member for finance, said: "Some of the savings we are proposing are not savings we want to make, but are forced on us by significant increases in demand and demographic changes in a climate of continued government underfunding."
The consultation, which runs until Monday, December 16 is at https://norfolk.citizenspace.com/consultation/budgetconsultation2025-26/
