A tyre puncturing trap has been set in a villager's driveway amid concern that her car may have frustrated another local.

The woman, who does not want to be named, was first alerted to the roofing nails set out on her drive in Keswick Road, Cringleford, on Sunday when her neighbour spotted them while walking her dog.

She speculates that her car - "which is admittedly quite loud" - may have bothered the suspect to the point that they would deliberately plant the nails.

"We don’t have any neighbours who’ve mentioned issues with our car and we’re careful about driving responsibly and strictly during appropriate hours," she said.

"Our neighbours don’t mind either. We’ve known them for years now and we’re always polite, exchanging greetings when we see each other."

The woman has since extended the range of her security camera to monitor her driveway better and has reported the incident to the police.

"This is really concerning," she added. "Whether it was someone deliberately trying to puncture our tyres or just a prank, putting roofing nails on our drive is unacceptable behaviour.

"It could cause serious accidents or leave us stranded, making it impossible to drop off or collect our daughter from her activities."

A spokeswoman for Norfolk Constabulary said: "Based on the information we were given, this did not meet the threshold of a crime.

"Should further information become available we will investigate appropriately."
