Fakenham Racecourse is giving away 1,500 free tickets to people living across Norfolk.

The gesture is aimed at letting people from the county enjoy a day of horse racing on November 19 without the burden of costs.

The tickets, for the Grandstand & Paddock area, can be claimed by people living in Norfolk online on a first-come, first-served basis.

People can claim two tickets when applying.

Clerk of the course David Hunter said: "A day at the races is for everyone, including children, and we would love you to join us.

"We have 1,500 complimentary tickets available in total, and Fakenham is one of the best racecourses to get close to the action, horses and jockeys.

"My one recommendation, as we head towards winter, is to wrap up warm."

To claim the tickets, residents must have a Norfolk postcode and need to purchase online at the racecourse's website, selecting up to two Grandstand & Paddock tickets for the Residents Raceday on November 19, and entering the code RR1911.

The free tickets are available until November 13.

Children aged 17 and under can attend for free and do not require a ticket.

For those wanting an indoor base for the day, the new Seafood Café in the Lancaster Room at the Gallow Sports Centre can be booked online at the time of securing tickets.

The two-course menu is £42.50 per person, with children 12 and under at £18.50 each.

For additional adults, out-of-area residents, or those who miss the deadline, tickets can be purchased at £20 per person for the Grandstand & Paddock area, or £25 per person for the Day Members area.

Parking at the course is free, and the dress code is casual.
