Locals have taken to leaving angry messages on a closed sign at a pharmacy amid frustrations about the opening hours.

The Well Pharmacy in The Street, Brundall, has been temporarily closed on several occasions throughout the past year - forcing those who rely on it to travel further to pick up their prescriptions.

Now villagers have taken to scrawling messages to the pharmacy across the "we are closed" sign to express their annoyance.

One message from a disgruntled villager said: "What a shambles this place is! Useless!"

While another reads: "I need my husband's prescriptions urgently today as he is out of four items."

One villager added: "Absolutely ridiculous! I need my medication today!"

Another said: "I've got a flu jab booked for here at 3.30pm. I've booked time off work to be able to be here!"

Jan Davis, who represents Brundall on Broadland Council, said: "It is highly regrettable residents cannot be sure they can access their local pharmacy when needed for vital medication during advertised opening times.

"I have written again to Well Pharmacy asking what contingency plans they have in place to ensure the pharmacy can be available for those requiring urgent medication.

"I would urge people affected not to direct their anger towards the existing staff at the local pharmacy but to recognise we need investment in our critical local services and this requires urgent investment at a national level."

Well Pharmacy, which runs the site in Brundall, has been contacted for comment.
