The East Anglia Clean & Green Awards 2025 have launched, offering local businesses, organisations and community groups a chance to shout about their efforts to boost sustainability in our region.

With categories covering a variety of areas, the Net Zero Award will go to an organisation that has made significant progress towards tackling their emissions.

Luke Bridgman, managing director of Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm, sponsor of the award, wants to see the winning entrant demonstrating tangible results in achieving net zero.

“Net zero ambitions should be authentic, with buy-in from senior management, clear targets set and a plan for how to meet them,” he said.

“One person should have ownership of the net zero strategy and be supported at board/CEO level. Entrants should be able to show clear results with an explanation of how their strategy helped to achieve them.”

One of the key criteria for the award is innovation, and Mr Bridgman believes it is critical to delivering great value across core technologies.

“Innovation is vital to create the green energy systems of tomorrow,” he said. “Innovation must be continued, rapid and collaborative to ensure we’re able to meet UK and global net zero goals.”

Entering this award gives organisations the opportunity to showcase how they tackle climate change.

“It’s a chance to champion great work done within organisations that are passionate about tackling climate change with positive action,” said Mr Bridgman.

The award will have a beneficial impact for both winners and finalists, as Mr Bridgman believes it will boost morale and lead to greater involvement from staff in achieving net zero ambitions.

“Hopefully, finalists and winners of this award will receive recognition from their business peers, customers and the local community.

“Ultimately, it should give them an even greater incentive to push towards the net zero goal.”

Meet the sponsor

Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm will make a significant contribution toward UK energy security and is a cornerstone of the UK government’s climate and clean energy targets.

Hornsea 3 will produce enough green energy to power more than three million UK homes. It will also deliver up to £8.5 billion to the local, national and global economy through supply chain investment and the creation of thousands of high-skilled jobs.

It will be located 120 km off the Norfolk coast and 160 km off the Yorkshire coast, and will be Ørsted’s third gigawatt-scale project in the Hornsea zone, which it’s been developing since 2015.

Globally, Ørsted is a market leader in offshore wind and was the first energy company in the world to have its science-based net-zero emissions target validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Award criteria

The judges will be seeking an organisation that has made significant progress toward achieving net zero emissions.

Innovation, measurable carbon reductions and collaboration with partners will be key factors.

The scalability and potential for other organisations to adopt similar strategies will also be considered.
