Black cats have long been associated with Halloween, but did you know that in British folklore they traditionally symbolised good luck?

Despite this, black moggies still take much longer to rehome than their more colourful counterparts. 

Rehoming and welfare assistant at Cats Protection East Norfolk, Nathanael Burr, said: “Nobody should consider adopting a cat based solely on its colour.

"Our experience means we are able to match a cat to the right home based on personality, circumstances and many other factors regardless of the colour of their fur coat.”

1. Pugsley & Gomez

The pair are being looked after by RSPCA Norwich and can be rehomed together or separately. 

They are looking for new homes where they can play, have outside access and be given lots of love and chin rubs. 

2. Binx

"Sweet" Binx is a 12 to 18-month-old female domestic shorthair currently in the care of West Norfolk RSPCA.

She is described as "a very friendly girl who loves a fuss and will slide on to her side for affection".

Binx likes to play with her toys and hang out on her cat tower.

She adores affection and will need a nice-sized garden to explore. 

She can live with cat-friendly dogs, children over the age of five and possibly other cats. 

3. Mildred & Merlin

Playful and affectionate, they love cuddles and have been living in a foster home with children. 

As they are so young, there is the possibility that they can live with dogs and other cats. 

PACT Animal Sanctuary will help with neutering once they are old enough. 
 

4. Moonshine 

MoonshineMoonshine is 11 years old (Image: Cats Protection East Norfolk) At 11 years old, Moonshine is a slightly older lady who is unfortunately missing an eye.

Staff at Cats Protection East Norfolk say she can be a little shy at first but "will soon be nudging into your hand for fusses".

She will need access to the outdoors and a home with no other pets.

She can live with children above the age of 13 years who understand when she needs personal space. 

5. Bessie

Bessie Bessie was found as a stray (Image: PACT Animal Sanctuary) Bessie was taken to PACT Animal Sanctuary after being found as a stray. 

Staff describe her as "a very sweet, friendly and active girl" who love her treats. 

She is sociable and will always greet people with a leg rub.

Confident and happy, she would make a lovely addition to a young family with no other pets.
