Six puppies found abandoned in a cardboard box with multiple health issues are on the mend and ready for rehoming.

The six spaniel cross puppies were taken in by Jerry Green Dog Rescue after being found by the Norfolk dog warden in the Beccles area.

Staff at the centre named the brave pooches after popular cartoon characters Eeyore, Piglet, Shrek, Fiona, Wallace and Gromit.

Jo Hickson, centre manager at Jerry Green Dog Rescue South Lincolnshire, said: "These six adorable pups have unfortunately had a tough start to life.

"While their bodies are still missing patches of fur, they’re improving every day and we’re confident with ongoing treatment and care they will become the dogs they were always meant to be.

"Amazingly after being so malnourished, they’re slowly regaining their strength and their playful puppy spirits are shining through."
