Drivers faced delays of up to 45 minutes on the A47 this morning.
The queues were due to an obstruction on the eastbound carriageway at the A1075 Tavern Lane, near Dereham.
According to the AA Traffic Map, the road was closed and a diversion was in place via the slip roads.
Eyewitnesses have said it has since reopened.
Norfolk Constabulary has been contacted for comment.
