Two schools will receive fruit and veg from Tesco every day.
The Bishop's CE Primary Academy and Pinetree School in Thetford will benefit from the supermarket's new £4 million scheme, Tesco Fruit & Veg for Schools.
This scheme, developed in partnership with the British Nutrition Foundation and Groundwork UK, aims to provide a piece of fruit or veg to pupils every day.
This initiative focuses on schools with a higher-than-average free school meal ratio.
Ken Murphy, Tesco group chief executive, said: “Our aim is to enable schools to provide enough fruit and veg for every child to have at least one piece every day.
“We know we can’t change habits overnight, but we can ensure that young people in some of the most challenged communities in the UK get access to more fruit and veg."
The scheme is expected to increase the overall fruit and veg intake of participating children by 23pc, adding a nutritional boost to their diets.
The initiative will benefit 400 schools across the UK, amounting to 16 million pieces of fruit and vegetables, and providing an average of 110 portions per child over the school year.
