The man had brought the busy shopping road to a standstill after emergency services were called to the site when he was spotted on top of the building last Thursday morning.

The street was cordoned off for two hours by police while negotiators worked to bring him down.

Onlookers witnessed the man pace up and down along the edge of the car park's fencing.
