A Norwich man has appeared in court accused of an attack on two men that left one with serious knife wounds. 

Jordan Shears is charged with malicious wounding and grievous bodily harm following the incident on October 19 when a man suffered hand injuries. 

Appearing in custody at Norwich Magistrates’ Court the 30-year-old, from Gentry Place, off Marl Pit Lane, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address and did not enter a plea to the charge.

He is also accused of assault occasioning actual bodily injury on a second man in the same incident.

Deputy District Judge Jacqui Appleton committed the case to Norwich Crown Court with a preliminary hearing on November 18.

Lisa Robinson, for Shears, said he intended to deny the charges and claims he did not have a knife and that the injuries inflicted did not amount to GBH.

He claims he was attempting to protect an at-risk and vulnerable girl at the time, she added. 

He was given bail with conditions including a tagged curfew from 7pm to 7am.
