A new memorabilia shop promising a "slice of Japan in Norfolk" is opening in Norwich.

Oshoppu, a Japanese collectables shop, is launching in the Royal Arcade at the start of December in the unit left empty by Basil & Pip florists.

The store will specialise in kawaii - the culture of cuteness - and has been selling rare imported goods online since it was founded by Norwich native Lauren Bromburg in 2019.

"I always loved Japanese culture, especially their love for kawaii and realised that it was very hard to buy any such merchandise in the UK," Lauren said.

“I have always loved the Royal Arcade. The eclectic mix of independent stores coupled with its central location and high footfall makes it an ideal location for our first store."

The family-run business will also offer Japanese stationery and anime merchandise from popular Studio Ghibli movies such as My Neighbour Totoro.

"I firmly believe that our shop will create a real buzz in Norwich as there are no others like ours," Lauren added.

"Lauryn’s passion for kawaii will shine through in the way she presents her store and I am sure it will attract lots of customers when it opens.”
