Having run the popular Kirkley News for more than 20 years, and been involved within the industry longer than that, Barry Barnard said it remains a "viable business" today.

"I was in the industry before that, and was at a business in London prior to moving here.

"This business was up for sale - it had nice big accommodation - and we are still running a viable business today.

Currently selling about 80 copies of The Lowestoft Journal a week in an ever-changing society, he added: "There is still the demand for it - we deliver to Kirkley and parts of Pakefield in Lowestoft.

"Things have changed over 20 years - but it is still viable.

"In terms of the demand - for sure, when you look back how many times were there that people said it will end with the advent of radio, television and more recently now over the past decade with the internet?

"I don't think it will stop.

"The demand is there - I don't think that will ever go away.

"I'm meeting the same people each day as the customers over the years have become friends."
