A modified motorbike has been seized by police during a crackdown on noisy vehicles in a market town.

The vehicle was stopped at Queen's Square in Attleborough last weekend amid concerns from locals of excessive noise from modified cars and bikes.

The rider was issued vehicle defect rectification scheme forms (VDFRS) which will require him to get the modifications removed within two weeks.

Following a check, the biker's basic training test was found to have expired a year ago.

This meant he was driving otherwise than in accordance with his licence which also invalidated his insurance.

Officers handed out the VDRS as well as a ticket for the rider's traffic offences before seizing the bike.

It is illegal to modify the exhaust system to make a motorbike louder after it has been checked to meet environmental and safety standards.

Police can also take action if the bike's silencer doesn't work or if a biker is caught purposefully riding in a way that creates too much noise.
