A motorist has denied he caused a serious crash by driving through a red light at one of Norwich’s busiest junctions.
Abdul Ali, 40, was at the wheel of a VW Arteon when it collided with a Skoda at the Boundary crossroads on January 13 this year.
Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told the driver of the other car suffered serious injuries including fractured ribs as a result of the collision.
Asif Akram, prosecuting, said several witnesses had seen the VW ignoring a red light moments before the crash.

Ali, of Catton Grove Road in Norwich, pleaded not guilty to causing serious injury through careless driving.
In an interview with police he had stated he believed the lights were at amber and that his car had been hit and spun around 180 degrees, the court was told.
He will stand trial next year.
Ralph Gillam, for Ali, said he would be disputing whether the lights were at red, who had priority at the junction and whether medical evidence proved the injuries suffered by the other motorist were serious.
