A fire has broken out at a family home.

Three crews from Norfolk Fire and Rescue tackled the blaze for roughly 40 minutes.

The fire happened at a house in Highland Road, off of Colman Road, earlier today.

One neighbour, who lives a few doors down from where the fire happened, said: "I'm not sure how it happened but I saw lots of thick black smoke.

"There was so much coming out from the top floor windows.

"I saw three fire engines, an ambulance and some police cars at the end of the road.

"Hopefully it didn't spread to any other houses."

The Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service log stated: "Crews from Earlham, Carrow and Sprowston used BA and Hose Reel Jets to extinguish a house fire on Highland Road.

"The stop was put in at 12.18pm."

Police closed access into the road while fire and rescue put out the blaze - it is unknown how the fire started.
