A motorcyclist who died in a crash was three times the legal drink-drive limit having celebrated his birthday the day before, an inquest has heard.

Timothy Littleboy, known to his loved ones as Timmy, died on the A140 at Horsham St Faith on March 31 this year - the day after his 52nd birthday.

His death came after he suffered traumatic injuries when he ploughed his Honda VTR into the path of an oncoming Vauxhall Astra.

An inquest into his death heard the tragedy was most likely to have been caused by alcohol and cocaine still in his system at the time of the crash.

The court heard that the day before the incident he had been celebrating his birthday at his sister's home and had stayed up drinking with his nephew until around 1am.

The following day he left the home and had text the nephew to say he was out on his motorbike - and joked about the weather conditions.

The crash happened at around 3.15pm.

A forensic crash investigation report prepared by police officer Lee Smart was read to the court, in which details of the collision were shared.

In this, Mr Smart said that witnesses had reported seeing Mr Littleboy, from Norwich, riding on the opposing side of the road - although "not in an erratic way with excessive speed".

He said: "Mr Littleboy had consumed alcohol and cocaine and was more than three times the legal drink-drive limit.

"His impairment appears to be the most likely cause of the crash."

Area coroner Samantha Goward gave a conclusion of drug and alcohol-related road traffic collision.

During the evidence, members of his family paid tribute to Mr Littleboy, with his sister Rebecca describing him as being "her best friend".

Harvey Littleboy, his nephew, added that he had been "a father figure" to him.
