Essential drainage work to prevent flooding on a village road has been delayed due to bad weather.

Work started on September 30 at Chalk Pit Road in Holme-next-the-sea and was originally planned to be completed by October 18.

Due to poor weather and unfavourable ground conditions in the area the project, including resurfacing works, will now not be completed until October 25.

The works include installing a new pipe system, gullies, and repairs to the existing system to help fix current issues with standing water along Chalk Pit Road, the A149 and Eastgate during periods of heavy rain.

Chalk Pit Road and Eastgate have been closed to through traffic for the duration of the project and temporary two-way traffic signals installed on the A149.

After the drainage works have been completed on Chalk Pit Road, the junction of the A149 and Chalk Pit Road will be resurfaced.

This is due to start on October 18 and is set to take two nights to complete.

During the work, the junction will be closed to through traffic.
