People across the county set their eyes and cameras to the sky last night as the Northern Lights dazzled much of the region - but will they be back tonight?

The spectacle returned on Thursday after two solar flares created a geomagnetic storm, leading to vibrant pinks, purples, blues and greens glowing in the night sky.

The aurora has been captured on several occasions this year as the sun's 11-year cycle reaches its peak.

However, the forecaster said there was a possibility of capturing the lights between 10pm and 11pm tonight.

A spokesman for the forecaster said: "The chances of aurora remain initially, though gradually easing through October 11, becoming increasingly confined to far northern geomagnetic latitudes by October 13."

However, last night's clear skies over Norfolk are not predicted to repeat themselves with a cloudier evening in the forecast, reducing the likelihood of last night's full spectacle.
