Britain's most flooded road has become submerged once again with people using canoes to cross it.

The A1101 Welney Wash Road near Downham Market first became flooded last week following days of heavy rainfall.

A stretch of the flood-prone road became impassable as a result of the flooding.

A spokesman for Welney Flood Watch, a community group monitoring the water levels, said the road is covered by 1.2 metres of flood water. and is not passable today.

They also said that the water levels have dropped 10cm in the last 24 hours and explained that if that fall does not increased and provided there is no extra rainfall it will take another 12 days to clear the road.

Photos were posted on social media of people having to use canoes to cross the road due to it being flooded.

Earlier this year people used kayaks to cross the road after it was closed for 12 weeks as a result of flooding.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the area which has been in place for the past couple of weeks.
