Money is one of the biggest worries people face when they are looking to buy a home. 

With this in mind, Savills estate agents have used Land Registry data to compile a list of the 20 cheapest places to buy a property in Norfolk.

The results were split into two tables - one showing the 10 cheapest towns and the other highlighting the 10 least expensive villages.

Great Yarmouth is the cheapest town to buy a home, with the average property costing £155,502.

Buyers interested in this area could also consider Gorleston, Caister, Belton, Hopton and Hemsby, which belong to the Great Yarmouth local authority.

Similarly, a home in Norfolk's second cheapest town - King's Lynn - will set people back around £218,735.

But it may also be worth viewing houses in the nearby villages of Marham, Feltwell, Outwell and Tilney St Lawrence, which are still well-priced but offer a more rural environment. 

Thetford, Watton, Dereham, SwaffhamAttleborough and Carbrooke are all in the Breckland region, providing several options for those wanting to live further inland.

Stalham and Scottow are the least expensive locations in north Norfolk and Long Stratton is the only south Norfolk spot to be featured. 

Natalie Howlett-Clarke, joint head of residential sales and head of office at Savills Norfolk, said: “Of course, these figures are averages and there will always be variations – some streets in those towns and villages will have a price higher than the average for example.

"Properties in the most popular areas remain in short supply and high demand which leads to higher prices.

"However, as these figures show, there are also other areas where, relatively speaking, the cost of property is more affordable – yet homeowners can still benefit from being close to the coast or surrounded by countryside.”
