Whitefriars Church of England Primary Academy in King’s Lynn has been announced as the winner of the Primary/Infant School of the Year award, sponsored by Norse Group, at the EDP Norfolk Education Awards 2024.

The school provides a range of opportunities to enhance children’s learning and help them develop a deep understanding of their community.

It has even identified ‘25 things to do before you leave Whitefriars’, including participating in a whole school performance and an overnight camp, to introduce new experiences to pupils.

The judges had high praise for Whitefriars’ support of pupils’ mental health and extra-curricular experiences.

They added that “seeing that pupils return as members of staff shows how the school is tied closely with its community”.

Sarah Spooner, assistant headteacher at Whitefriars, said the award highlighted that every staff member goes “above and beyond every single day”.

“It’s all that recognition of all that hard work we put in and the hours we all work,” she said.
