A charity that helps homeless people is holding a festival to celebrate a 450-mile walk.

Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney will host a mini festival on Thursday, October 10, at its site in Belsey Bridge Road, Ditchingham.

The event, which coincides with World Homeless Day, will celebrate the homecoming of staff and residents who walked across the country.

The walkers, including companions Chloe, Jagger, Peter, and CEO Cecile Roberts, embarked on a six-week pilgrimage from St David’s in Wales to Ditchingham.

This "Walk of Kindness" was a fundraising initiative along the Via Beata pilgrimage route.

The festival, titled "The Art of Kindness", will run from 11am to 3pm, with the walkers expected to arrive between 1pm and 1.30pm.

Visitors can participate in samba drumming workshops, spoken word performances, art creation, and meet miniature donkeys.

There will also be autumnal food on offer.

Cecile Roberts, CEO of Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney, said: “The Walk of Kindness has been a tough challenge – maybe harder than any of us thought.

"It will mean so much to return home and see supporters & friends cheering us on.

"The festival takes place on World Homeless Day, and we wanted the day to focus on mental health and wellbeing – an issue that often means people struggle to upkeep tenancies and affects many who are living on the streets or insecurely housed.

"We would love everyone to come together and take time for their wellbeing while supporting our community.”

Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney provides housing, work opportunities, training, and holistic therapies for people who have experienced homelessness and severe trauma.

The Walk of Kindness aims to raise funds for a new social enterprise, a bed and breakfast within the 19th-century convent, to generate income for the charity.

The festival is free to attend, with free parking available.
