Plans have been unveiled to transform a pub just outside the city into a “destination” with new drinks, food and event spaces.

The New Inn in Rockland St Mary is set to receive a full revamp which will include refreshing its garden, updating its exterior and redesigning its interior.

Managing group Star Pubs, which owns the pub, said this will "breathe new life" into the public house and "ensure year-round appeal".

Modernised signage will replace the former logos and the patio area will be cleaned with a jet washer.

The inside will get all-new wallpaper, panelling, and decorative murals, with a faux chimney and electric stove installed in the dining area for a "cosy feel".

Carpets, flooring and seating will also be updated and a modern bar top will be fitted.

Post refurbishment the pub will be able to seat 72 people inside and 50 outside, as well as host quiz nights, wine tastings and themed food evenings.

"With regular events like quiz nights, wine and gin tastings, this is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in destination sites.

"These events will not only engage the local community but also drive consistent footfall, making the pub a vibrant hub for social activity all year round."
