Business at a water retreat guest lodge is going swimmingly, says its manager,

Wensum Water Retreats in South Raynham, near Fakenham, launched in 2022 after a property that is now part of the business was given a major renovation.

The renovation included the addition of two ensuite bedrooms and a new swimming pool, hot tub and games room.

Kimberley Halton-Farrow, who manages the company, said business has been "really really good" since its refurbishment, which saw the property go from three to five bedrooms.

The following year, the business' other property, Victoria Cottage near Holt, was also given a refurbishment.

She said: "Majority of the feedback from our guests has been appreciation for creating a space for them to make magic memories.

"We try to find out if there's a special event like a birthday or an anniversary and I'll leave a card or a small something. It's just to make their stay that much more special."

Mrs Halton-Farrow, who has competed as a professional triathlon athlete, said: "I've raced across the world and competed in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii three years ago so swimming pools have always been part of my day-to-day."

Mrs Halton-Farrow said: "My grandad always said 'public swimming pools never make any money' but I believe there are simple solutions for what I would call 'poor swimming pool management'.

"There are just small adjustments that could be made to ensure a pool's longevity."

Mrs Halton-Farrow will continue to do what she can to provide access to swimming facilities and hopes to include a third property into the business as well, which will include a private indoor swimming pool and hot tub.

She may even get back into competing, with her eye on the European Championships in Sweden next year.
