Plans have been submitted to make changes to the former Argos store in the city centre – but mystery surrounds what could be going into the empty shop.

Under proposals submitted to Norwich City Council the site in St Stephens Street will remain a ‘Class E’ premises.

This means that it could be anything from a restaurant to a clothing retailer moving into the site.

The plans also show the shopfront will undergo a significant transformation, with large windows along the front and black aluminium framing.

Under their application, the former Argos will be divided into two smaller shops.

The store which has been empty since the start of 2023 is directly opposite the entrance to Chantry Place and next to Yours Clothing.

It is currently hidden behind colourful boarding with the doors and windows covered up.

Plans for the signage are expected to be submitted to Norwich City Council shortly.
