Plans to build an art deco-style hotel in a coastal town are to face a fresh hurdle over the sale of the land where it will be built.

Developers have already been given permission to create the 37-suite ‘apartment hotel’ next to Sheringham's Reef Leisure Centre by North Norfolk District Council (NNDC).   

It will be built on a patch of land owned by the authority, which it has deemed surplus.

However, the sale of the land to the developer is yet to be completed as work continues to meet the purchase conditions that will allow the hotel to go ahead.

Much of the information is being kept secret because it relates to exempt financial information.

This includes how much the land is being sold for.

At a cabinet meeting on Monday, councillors at the Liberal-Democrat-controlled authority will consider extending the legal agreement with the developer and for officers to explore further demand for the site.

While plans for the hotel have been approved, locals have been unhappy with the design, calling it "out of character".
