A Norfolk distillery specialising in handcrafted vodka has signed a deal with a national wholesaler in the hopes of expanding beyond East Anglia.

Wild Knight Distillery in Beachamwell, near Swaffham, has been distilling premium vodka designed to be sipped and savoured in the same way as spirits such as whisky and brandy since 2016.

Owned and co-founded by husband and wife Matt and Steph Brown, the distillery has now signed a deal with national wholesaler Crush Foods, based in Salle.

“We are thrilled to be working with Crush Foods, which we hope will help us broaden our target market,” said Mrs Brown.

But a tasting experience one evening changed the couple’s perception of vodka forever.

They discovered that vodka didn’t need to be a tasteless liquid. It could have character and be smooth enough to enjoy on its own.

This led the to the creation of the distillery's first vodka in 2016, Wild Knight English Vodka, which the couple say is the “ultimate vodka”.

The distillery is now home to a collection of handcrafted spirits and liquors.

“We have recently launched a new chocolate martini liqueur, which has been met with great enthusiasm from our current customer base,” Mrs Brown added.

“We’re now looking forward to seeing the reaction from a national audience.”

Stephen Newman, co-founder of Crush Foods, said its customers are looking for "locally-made, quality products" like those made by the Browns.

“After trying the range, we have no doubt that Wild Knight liqueurs and spirits will be a great addition to our catalogue," she said.
