Plans for a new village home have been turned down after neighbours objected and officials described them as a "cramped development".
Developers named in planning papers as Mr and Mrs George applied for planning permission to build a two bedroom house on a vacant plot on Chapel Lane in Terrington St Clement, near King's Lynn.
They said in their application: "This project is to turn a unused somewhat dishevelled gap in the street scene into a small dwelling to make a better and more aesthetically pleasing use of the space."

But a planning officer's report said six objections had been received.
Grounds for criticism included the lack of footpaths on the road passing the site, plus the number of vehicles which use it for parking and so reduce its width to single lane.
The report added: "The proposed development, by virtue of the limited dimensions of the plot and size and positioning of the dwelling, results in a cramped, contrived and unsatisfactory form of development."
West Norfolk Council's planning portal says the application has been refused.
