Two litters of vulnerable kittens were found dumped near each other on the same day in Norfolk.

A litter of five three-week-old kittens were found inside a black and green crate in Station Road in Terrington St Clement on September 20.

The second litter of kittens - believed to be just a few days old - were found in a bush in Mill Road at Shouldham Thorpe just a 20-minute drive away later that day.

One kitten died shortly after being admitted to the vets on September 22 and the other two were later put down due to their poor condition.

RSPCA animal rescue officer Bethany Allerton said: “These young kittens were sadly abandoned without their mum or anyone to care for them.

"Thankfully, the first litter is being hand-reared by a local rescue charity and appears to be doing well.

"It is unknown whether these two incidents are connected or not but it’s unusual to have so many kittens abandoned in the same area on the same day.
