A die-hard Canaries fan has waited an agonising 21 years for a season ticket to his childhood club.

Daniel Taylor first applied for a wheelchair-accessible season ticket via the club in 2003.

However the 41-year-old, who suffered a spinal cord injury when he was younger, was left languishing on the waiting list for more than two decades.

And if not for a chance encounter with a famous supporter of the club, Jake Humphrey, he might still be waiting for his coveted ticket.

Dr Taylor, who lives in Cringleford, said: "I've been a City fan since I was a kid.

"At the time I had to phone up to apply but there were no wheelchair-accessible tickets available.

"I was put on a waiting list, however every couple of years I'd get an update in the form of a letter - later an email - saying there still wasn't anything available.

"During this time I joined the club's membership scheme where I could apply for tickets as and when they came up.

"It was better than nothing but it was still a pain and really difficult to get hold of.

"There were definitely points I thought it would be impossible to get a season ticket as things didn't seem to be progressing."

In May this year Dr Taylor was coming back from London on the train when he bumped into TV presenter Jake Humphrey.

The pair got talking and after regaling Mr Humphrey with his story, he made plans to speak to his contacts at the club to see if he could help.

By the end of July Dr Taylor was the proud owner of a Norwich City season ticket.

Dr Taylor, who attended City's 1-1 draw with Leeds in the Championship on Tuesday evening, added: "It feels great because it makes planning so much easier and gives me more freedom than I used to."
