The main road serving the county's largest showground will see its speed limit axed in a major shakeup.

Much of Dereham Road in Easton currently does not have a strict limit enforced, instead having the national limit for a single-lane carriageway which is 60mph.

Norfolk County Council will cut this nearly in half, dropping the limit between Bluebell Way and the Longwater interchange to 40mph.

In addition, sections of Bawburgh Road and Bluebell Way will have speed limits cut from 30mph to 20mph which the council has introduced in response to Easton's steady growth.

Green councillor Catherine Rowett previously said: "Many single-track roads currently have a nominal speed limit of 60mph yet travelling at such a speed would be beyond foolhardy.

"Norfolk has hundreds of small villages and rural parishes whose residents are keen to have safer speed limits."
