CCTV images showing a missing 73-year-old woman in her pajamas walking through a town in the middle of the night have been released.

Mary White was last seen at her home address in Nelson Avenue, Downham Market, at 10pm on Tuesday, September 24.

Her family reported her missing the following morning when they discovered she was no longer at the house.

Police have now released CCTV of Mary wearing white pyjamas walking along Railway Road at 3.31am the night she went missing.

As the search continues, police have drafted in their Marine Unit to begin searching the nearby Great Ouse river and its banks.

Inspector Howard Elvidge said: “We are carrying out extensive searches for Mary and are increasingly concerned for her welfare.

“I hope the CCTV image triggers someone’s memory and helps us to build a picture of her movements.

“Officers are checking CCTV and doorbell footage and carrying out methodical searches involving specialist search officers and drones."

Mary is described as around 5ft tall and of slim build with shoulder-length grey hair.

Inspector Elvidge added: “Searches are also being carried out along the river using the force’s Marine Unit, as well as officers on foot along the banks.

“Clearly the focus is on finding Mary and we are keeping an open mind as to her whereabouts.

"Members of the public who, understandably, want to help can do so by checking any doorbell and dashcam cameras and checking any insecure outbuildings.”

Anyone who may have seen Mary or has information about her whereabouts are urged to contact police immediately.

Anybody with information should call 101 quoting reference 48 of September 25.
