A Norfolk café has closed after less than a year in business, with the decision "not taken lightly".

The Denver Mill Café Bistro had a soft launch last December, with former South West Norfolk MP and prime minister Liz Truss cutting the ribbon at the official opening in January.

The historic site, near Downham Market, is home to a windmill that was built in 1835 and several businesses.

The café was run by trained chef Emma Gibson and her business partner Jayne Highnam, with Mrs Highnam's husband Norman doing the PR.

"Our decision to close was not taken lightly, but a series of events beyond our control made the café's future untenable.

"We wish all the staff well in their next career ventures."
