A shocking photo has revealed the aftermath of a house fire after a charger burst into flames.

The photo shows the remnants of a bed after the blaze consumed a room at a home in Attleborough.

Flames broke out in the early hours of the morning on September 20 after a device was left charging on soft bedding.

Rushing to the home in Saxon Heath, two crews used jets and a thermal imaging camera to battle the flames.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service has warned the public to be careful when charging devices for long periods on soft, flammable surfaces.

Head of prevention Emyr Gough said: “Testing smoke alarms regularly can save lives.

"In this instance, the householder was able to evacuate, raise the alarm and close doors which helped contain the fire and limit the damage caused."

The victims had a lucky escape as nobody was in the bedroom at the time.

Mr Gough added: "We would ask residents not to leave electrical items charging overnight and also not to charge devices on beds and sofas at any time of day as this can generate heat and increase the risk of accidental fire.”
