The landlord of a recently closed coffee shop claims its last tenant has left it in such a "disgusting" state it can't be re-rented.

The building was formerly home to One Cup or Two, a popular Costessey spot run by Simon Kindleysides.

Mr Kindleysides launched the cafe on the city outskirts in March last year, but closed the business down earlier this month while struggling with serious health issues.

He has a functional neurological disorder and a glioma brain tumour, which has left him paralysed from the waist down.

However landlord for the building Dan Trivedi, claims he's had next-to-no contact with Mr Kindleysides, who still has two years left on his lease at the site, since the shop shut on 15 September.

He asserts that equipment left at the site is in such a bad state that he is having to spend thousands of pounds before he can rent it out again.

Mr Trivedi said: "He's vacated the site leaving tons of waste and furniture that I'm now having to pay someone to clear.

"He's still got two years left on his lease and has left it in such a disgusting state that I can't currently rent it out again - it's a real problem.

"The state of the cooking equipment was horrible and there's so much debris which has been left outside.

"I also need to remove the decking, which was put up without my permission, wasn't part of the lease and was not taken down after I asked earlier this year.

"It's part and parcel of being a landlord that people may not pay rent on time, but the shop has been abandoned with not a care in the world for anyone else."
