If you need someone to get wedding reception guests on the dancefloor Tim Daymond is the man to call.

Mr Daymond has been a professional DJ, known as Tinsel Tim, since 1976 when he did his first gig at a wedding in Downham Market.

In his almost 50 years of spinning discs across the region, he has received many accreditations, including a Central England Prestige Award.

This year, however, the 64-year-old has become the first mobile DJ to achieve Trusted Trader status in Norfolk and is on a mission for his trade to be taken seriously.

He said: "Back when I started, you either did a good job or you were out on your ear and never showed your face at the venue again.

"Nowadays, people will drop a customer at the last minute if they get offered a better job.

"In all my years, I've never failed to show up to a gig even with bronchitis and a temperature of 103."

Mr Daymond takes the Tinsel Show across the four counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

He said: "I did a show in Dereham a few weeks ago at the cricket club - that was a lovely gig and loads of people in that area know the Tinsel Show."

Mr Daymond founded Mobile Disco Network in November 2013 and has adapted with the times to incorporate new technology, which has been one of the biggest changes since starting DJing with just 200 vinyls.

He said: "I try to create something different, unique and fresh."

Being a DJ is a trade that requires as much skill as any profession for Mr Daymond.

Mr Daymond said: "You have to have decades of music knowledge but the most important skill is being able to know what song is going to get your guests on the dance floor - and factoring in how much alcohol they've had as well."

With the new accreditation, Mr Daymond hopes to raise the standards of the industry and ensure that mobile DJs are recognized as legitimate professionals.

"I believe it is essential for the mobile DJ industry to have a system in place that ensures consumers can book DJs with confidence," he said.
