A planning application has revealed that a market town could temporarily lose its only petrol station.

The plans could see the Sainsbury's petrol station on Bacton Road in North Walsham demolished to extend the supermarket.

The extension would create more access for customers and cars and improve the supermarket's service hours.

The operating hours for Sainsbury's service yard - which handles deliveries - would be increased until 11pm from 9pm on Monday to Saturday evenings and from 8am to 7am on Sunday mornings.

The planning application is currently pending approval by North Norfolk District Council and can be commented on here.

Sainsbury's were contacted for comment.
