Plans have been lodged to give two barns at Grove Farm in Swanton Abbott a new lease of life.

The application submitted to North Norfolk District Council proposes to transform the barns into treatment rooms to be used by wellbeing practitioners.

The plans were put forward by owner, Stuart Morton, who works in planning and development.

Mr Morton said: “After Covid I wanted to do something that helps people's wellbeing.

“I wanted to create a centre where everyone could come.

“I had a look at converting them to holiday lets, but everyone has done that around here.

“I didn’t want to, I wanted to do something different.

“After Covid I wanted to do something that helps people's wellbeing.

“A friend who works as a therapist said that the spaces would be ideal as a practice and I thought it was a great idea.

"It's partly about farm diversification and preserving these old buildings too."

"I have had a lot of interest from local practitioners so far."

The plans propose to convert the two barns into five separate spaces of varying sizes to suit the needs of different practitioners.

The design of the new spaces are said to minimize the change in the look of the buildings and therefore the impact on surroundings.

The buildings will continue to look like barns/stables externally with many of the existing materials being re-used to maintain the buildings' character.

The plans are pending consideration by planners at the district council.
