People living in parts of Norfolk have been told to "be prepared" with flooding expected due to high tides.

Flood alerts have been issued for a large stretch of the Norfolk coast running from Blakeney to King's Lynn. 

A flood alert has also been issued for the coast at Sea Palling where flood gates will be closed restricting normal access to beaches around Eccles on Sea, and Sea Palling.

High tides are expected between 7.15am and 9.30am on Friday. 

A spokesman for the Environment Agency, who issued the flood alerts, said: "Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to spring tides.

"We expect to see water on roads and paths to beaches and on the quays in Brancaster, Burnham Overy, Holkham, Wells and Blakeney.

"Take care on coastal roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger."

It comes after flood alerts were issued for a stretch of the Norfolk coast on Thursday. 

The tide is forecast to reach a peak level of 4.93m above average sea level with the Environment Agency stating that areas such as Heacham, Snettisham, Ingoldisthorpe, Dersingham and Wolferton are also at risk.
