A 20-metre tall 5G mast could be built next to the James Paget University Hospital after plans were given the green light.
Agent Perry Williams LTD submitted the application on behalf of the applicant Cornerstone to build the tower, which will have six supporting antennas, on land next to Car Park F at the hospital in Lowestoft Road, Gorleston.
A two-metre fence will be built around the tower.
Documents submitted say the tower will "deliver public benefit in terms of the mobile services".
It adds that "5G has the potential to transform the way we live and improve economic productivity".
Additionally, the documents state that local authorities across Britain "will share collectively an annual £2.35 billion of efficiency savings" by supporting 5G.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council said that the development must begin within five years of the application being approved.
The applicant, Cornerstone, is one of the UK's leading mobile infrastructure services which manages and owns over 20,000 sites across the country.
