A 47-year-old woman who was in a deeply unhappy relationship died at home after an “impulsive overdose”, a court has heard.
Clara Wintyre from Sporle, near Swaffham, was found unresponsive in her bedroom on December 10 last year.
The night before, she had enjoyed a meal and watched a Harry Potter film with her partner of 28 years.
On discovering her the next day her partner tried to resuscitate her, but paramedics confirmed that she had died that afternoon.
Shortly after, several empty blister packets of medication were found by her bedside.
Evidence at an inquest into her death revealed that Ms Wintyre was prone to “impulsive overdoses”.
Jacqueline Lake, senior coroner, told Norfolk Coroner’s Court that she was “a very unhappy woman”.
She added: “She clearly had a complex physical and mental health medical history, both of which had a serious impact on her life.
“She also had a history of previous overdoses, and she would buy medication off the internet over and above what she was prescribed.”

She went on to say that Ms Wintyre had “an up and down relationship with her partner” and had been referred to mental health services in the past.
Mrs Lake continued: “She was clearly a very unhappy woman, she felt isolated and trapped, she was in poor health, and she was clearly not in a happy relationship.
“However, I am unable to determine that on the balance of probabilities that she did intend to die from her actions on this occasion.”
A toxicology report confirmed that the medical cause of death was “mixed drug toxicity”.
Recording a narrative conclusion, Mrs Lake said: “Miss Wintyre took an overdose of prescribed and unprescribed medication. The evidence does not reveal her intention.”
