When the Bay City Rollers woke up on Friday the 13th to find their van had been stolen it was nearly Bye Bye Baby for their tour.

But as the Scottish chart-toppers prepare to head to the Fine City for a near sold-out gig at the Waterfront, a city music store has stepped in to make sure they don't have to stop the music.

The 70s favourites will perform in Norwich on Sunday, September 15 as part of a tour that will take them up and down the country.

However, the show was cast into doubt when their van - complete with their famous tartan instruments - was stolen overnight between Thursday and Friday from outside their hotel in Walsall.

Now though, they will still be rolling into city thanks to some goodwill from PMT Norwich in the city.

Johnny McLaughlin, the band's manager, keyboardist and vocalist, said all it took was a single phone call to the music store to make sure the show can go on.

The shop in New Boltolph Street agreed to loan equipment, including a bass guitar, to the band - while the Waterfront is also helping out with temporary gear.

The band member said: "It was a terrible thing that happened to us but it is great that we have been able to continue the tour thanks to so much goodwill - it has restored my faith in humanity.

"We did not want to cancel the show and disappoint so many people, so it is wonderful that the good people of Norwich have been able to help out."

Tickets for the show are still available, which Johnny says will include many of the band's biggest hits - from Bye Bye Baby, Give A Little Love and Shang-a-Lang.

He said: "Because we've lost so much gear it's going to be a bit more basic rock'n'roll show like things were in the 70s, but it'll be high energy with all the hits. We can't wait."
